aloha Cristina and Lavanna. your Haiga work is outstanding. it is a pleasure to explore these. thank you. aloha
I am honored Rick that you liked some of these haiga. Haiga was my latest artistic interest.
I am so impressed with your poems. Too many to comment on at once. Blue irises caught me eye and mind today.
I am happy Sandy that blue irises meant more for you than others. For me too, that one is a special one. I am revealing to you what that haiku means for me and how I wrote it (this explanation I wrote in January, I need to explain only this time):
I have read an analysis of a painting – by Ogata Korin (1658 – 1716)- which reveals the image of a dark colored irises field under a bridge near Kyoto. In that painting the bridge symbolizes the loneliness, the worn-out human life in contrast with the sensuous, rich, expansive image of the irises. The painting reminded me about the beautiful irises that grew when I was a child in a neighbor’s courtyard. I passed along them holding my grandma’s hand, feeling the desire of having one flower like that for myself. My family had planted many flowers in our garden but irises were not there. Then I read about Japanese gardens and the importance of blue irises inside them.
I used this word above because it has a double meaning (maybe the single time I did this), the fact that it refers to human eye creates a sort of lyrical feeling, emotional meaning about the passing of pains and youth memories through the eyes blurred and heavy with bitterness.
But the initial meaning of the poem is linked to the old woman’s stroll along the flowers. I used the word grandmother in order to express clearly the identity of the passer-by, a woman that has her offspring in bloom. She seems to borrow some vigor from the flowers which have a tall and tough stem. But she walks along them, following the thread of her life.
Thanks so much for letting me know this. Blue irises have always been special to me, but I have no idea why.
I will be back to read more another time. I ran to have run out of day! So many interesting sites, like yours!
I am really happy that you found my blog interesting, Sandy. I am new here on wordpress and luckily I found some interesting blogs here, including yours and now I will take more time to read other blogs.
magnifique… amicalement, Mélanie
